Will Drinking Water Actually Lead to Weight Loss?


Let's face it. The body needs water. You need to be well hydrated for you metabolism to function properly. Drinking enough water will also give you more energy. The increased metabolism will result in weight loss.

The question remains, will drinking more water lead to weight loss? The answer is yes. Drinking plenty of water can act as an appetite suppressant. Most hunger pangs are in fact thirst pangs. A glass of it can stop the hunger pangs. When you are hungry, try drinking a glass of it first. This will decrease your appetite so you will eat less. Drinking at least one glass before eating can quicken the sense of fullness, which means you will consume less, which means lower calories, which means more weight loss. This should cut down on your snacking.

While exercising, toxins are released into the body. You need adequate water in your system to flush these out. Not enough can make your body retain water. Beware, not consuming adequate amounts of water can slow down your metabolic rate, resulting in extra pounds.

There are various types of water available these days. Tap water, mineral water, vitamin water, distilled water, etc. Tap water is not that good for you. Tap water tends to contain high dosages of chlorine. Beware of some bottled waters as they contain tap water. Do the research. Distilled water, however, can help with weight loss. Distilled water is best for cleansing. It has the ability to absorb large quantities of toxins and can flush them out of the body. If distilled water is not easily available, then spring or filtered water are excellent substitutes.

For those of you who do not like the taste of water, there is coconut water. Coconut water is a good substitute for natural water. It offers all the same benefits as natural water. It is low in its natural sugars and assists in thyroid functions. It also enhances your metabolism, which helps with weight loss. Just beware and read the label on the coconut water as it sometimes contains extra sugar.

Sufficient intake of water can improve your digestion. It can offer you smooth and glowing skin. Drink plenty of water to help maintain proper blood volume and quantity of oxygen received by all organs. Like stated above, your body has toxins that water will wash out from your liver and kidneys, thus improving their function.

Remember, water consumption should be spread out throughout the day. Never allow yourself to get thirsty. Feeling thirsty means you've already become dehydrated. You should drink water even when you're not thirsty. If you're thinking about losing weight, drinking plenty of water is an absolute must.
