Slim Down Without Even Trying

Would you like to easily shave off pounds and slim down, starting today?

The idea of losing weight can be terrifying to some women because it brings up images of tiny portions, bland food and most of all, hunger pains. Hunger pains can be tough to overcome, especially if you are just starting out with losing weight.
What if I tell you that there are ways to cut back on the calories without restrictive dieting?
Don't believe me? Check out these superb tips that are guaranteed to make you say "why didn't I think of that?"
Tip #1: Savor the Flavors
Mothers everywhere will agree that eating slowly is the way to go. Apart from being good table etiquette, eating slowly can help you lose weight consistently.
How can eating slowly help cut down the calories?
It's very simple: our brains need at least 20 minutes to send a signal that you are full and satisfied with a meal. Within this crucial time period, you need to stick to your target portions and serving sizes and wait for your brain to tell you that you are full.
Setting a 20-minute timer during your main meals can help you develop a slower and better eating pace. I know that this might sound tough for people who eat burritos or sandwiches while driving, but do try it at least once per day and you will see your food consumption drop.
The best thing about this "timing exercise" is you're going to feel more satisfied with each meal because you gave your brain enough time to send the "fullness signal!"
Tip #2: Add 1 Hour of Sleep

This might sound odd, but research shows that an additional hour of sleep every night can help you drop more than 10 pounds every 12 months.
Researchers aren't completely sure why the statistics are adding up, but they have two theories as to why this is happening:
The first theory is that the extra hour of sleep reduces your chances of consuming extra calories. Sleep also burns a modest amount of calories so it does help you curb excess energy in its own way. Take note however that chronic oversleeping is not healthy and will not give you a weight loss advantage!
The second theory is that having a longer sleep each night reduces your appetite level when you wake up. Experts recommend at least 7 hours of sleep every night. It doesn't matter if you are a teenager or adult. 7 hours of sound, uninterrupted sleep can do wonders for your weight!
Tip #3: Eat a Variety of Veggies

If you are changing your diet to lose weight, chances are your mind is secretly (or openly) resisting your new food choices.
Just imagine: where there was always a cheeseburger now rests a plate of fresh salad. You then take a look at your evening glass and find freshly juiced veggies and not soda. The diet and lifestyle changes are palpable and not many people find their situations funny.
Yes - the experience of shifting to another diet can be frustrating at times! If you are having a rough time because you need to eat more vegetables, you may find it easier to eat these great superfoods if you prepare at least three vegetables in every meal.
By ensuring variety in every veggie meal, you will be able to overcome the initial resistance to eating vegetables. Don't worry: a lot of people don't like vegetables. With fast food and endless restaurant chains around the cities, it's not hard to see why people are drawn to fast food.
Don't worry though: the more you eat vegetables, the better they will taste over time. Your body (and mind) will eventually get used to the inclusion of veggies to your daily meals. One day you will surprise yourself because you feel genuine satisfaction as you eat your wholesome meals at home!
Tip #4: Powerful Soups

Soups (especially clear soups) are packed with great flavors and not calories. This is why I highly recommend having soup in every meal because it helps fill up your stomach without adding too many calories.
When your stomach is filled partially before the main course, your appetite level will drop and you will not be tempted to get second or third helpings.
Clear soups like the ones served in Japanese or Chinese restaurants can be prepared easily at home and can be seasoned just the way you like them.

Add herbs or tofu if you like. Own your soup! However, I do have to warn everyone about the dangers of putting too much salt in food. Excess salt in your food can cause water retention, which can cause steady weight gain.

Burning Fat Is Simple, But Not Obvious

Despite what many people will tell you, being active is a vital ingredient to any weight loss program. If you have been around the weight loss game for any amount of time, it is very obvious that your body will burn more calories when it is active than when it is non-active! In fact, the formula to losing weight is actually a simple one: burn more calories than you consume!

Did you know that 1 pound of fat is about equal to about 3500 calories? So simply put, in order for you to lose one pound of fat you would have to burn about 3500 calories! Sounds like a lot of exercise and dieting doesn't it? But let's break that number down and make it even simpler, if you were to create a caloric deficit of only 500 calories a day that would mean that you would burn a pound of fat every single week (7 days x 500 calories = 3500 calories).

It goes without saying that diet will play a bigger role in losing weight than exercising. However, exercise still plays an important part in your weight loss.

Cardio

In order to effectively burn extra fat try get at least 150 minutes a week of cardio or about half that, 75 minutes, of intense cardio. Cardio can include anything like cycling, running or even swimming. And intense cardio would be something like high-intensity interval training or HIIT which can be great for you if you don't have much time during the week!

Depending on where you are on your weight loss journey, you may need a little more or a little less exercise time than the recommended amount, but make sure each session is a least 15 minutes. You can even mix it up by rotating between normal cardio and intense cardio during your workout!

Strength training

Try and get at least 2 sessions a week of strength training of about 20 minutes each. Strength training can include anything that involves weights or some sort of resistance to your body. It is really important to maintain or build your muscle during the weight loss process because muscle helps in turn to burn fat! And in more simple terms, the more muscle you have, the more fat you will end up burning!

Whether you prefer cardio or strength training, try doing at least 30 minutes a day of structured exercise! Your weight loss will depend on a lot of factors like the intensity and the type of exercise you are doing, but the most important factor will be consistency!

Weight Loss - The Best Tried And Tested Fat Burner Options

Are you looking for a little extra jump-start to your weight loss results?  If so, you may be checking out the fat burner options available to you. Many people go this route, thinking they will give them a nice little boost - and they can. When used correctly, many fat burners offer significant benefits. But you do need to understand how these fat burners work and an appropriate way to use them.

Let's go over the best tried and tested weight loss ingredients you should be looking for when seeking out a fat burner...

1. Caffeine. Caffeine is one of the best and most readily available fat burning ingredients you should know about. Most people already know caffeine can give a great energy boost but on top of that, it can also...
·       jump start your metabolism,
·       improve your overall level of fatty acid oxidation, and also help to
·       improve your insulin sensitivity.

Furthermore, some individuals may report a reduction in appetite when using caffeine as well. Drink this as coffee or in a supplement form - your choice.

2. Green Tea Extract. Green tea extra is another good fat burning ingredient. Here again, you can drink a couple of glasses of green tea if you prefer or instead, if you like, take the extract instead.
Green tea extract is great for improving your metabolic rate as well, and may also offer antioxidant benefits also. It's a win-win for those seeking healthy weight loss results.

3. Fish Oil. Don't discount fish oil. While it is not a "fancy" product claiming to help you lose fat rapidly, it will increase your insulin sensitivity and, in turn, may help to enhance your overall ability to utilize carbohydrates.
In turn, fish oil will then contribute to promoting a leaner body. Fish oil can be taken in capsule form or through eating salmon.

4. Bitter Orange. Finally, bitter orange is the last ingredient you will want to pay attention to. This one is a little more extreme than the others and is a herbal form of ephedrine which was used in many fat burning products earlier on. It was later removed, however, as people saw unwanted side effects.

When taken correctly in moderate dosages, it is okay for most people but do be aware it can increase your heart rate and blood pressure. Always speak to your doctor before using this product to get the go ahead.

These are four of the top fat burning ingredients to consider adding to your weight loss plan. As you go about your hunt for the right supplement, keep these in mind.

Treadmill Mistakes: 5 Habits to Break

Prior to getting too comfortable with your treadmill routine, know that using this machine should not be a robot-like activity. To reduce your likelihood of injury--and the chance that body will plateau--learn these five do's and don't of walking/running on the treadmill.

DON'T run on autopilot
Doing the same workout on the treadmill machine day after day can be a mindless task that your body will adjust to that. This can be less effective for the muscles and you will burn less calorie consumption as a result. This also causes your brain to drift and be easily distracted by the television or people around you.

What to Do: Be present during your workout

Concentrate on your breathing, stride, and form. It's also a good idea to alter your workout every week approximately. First, raise the length of your workout for a week. For the pursuing week, try increasing the intensity using inclines. Stick to up by incorporating high-intensity interval training workouts with running and walking the next week. Changing some misconception periodically will keep you focused and give your body a new challenge.

DON'T stomp your feet

Landing hard on your feet or working flat-footed is bad for both feet and legs, which can cause muscle strain. Stomping your foot down may also lead you to lean backward, straining your back muscles and tossing off your balance.

What to Do: pay attention to each step

Land on the ball of the foot or midfoot-not the heel or whole foot at one time. Stay as upright as you can while running or walking as you normally would in the center of the treadmill.

DON'T make your stride too long

Over-striding and stretching your hip and legs out too much causes your body weight to land in front, which is terrible for your legs joints and uses more energy. This may also cause you to lose form, producing in a less-efficient workout.

What to Do: Walk and run as naturally as you do outside

When running, scarcely lift your feet off the ground and try to keep a speed of about 15 steps for each and every 10 seconds. While walking, use natural steps.

DON'T hunch

Inclined or hunching too much forward means your body is working harder to keep its balance, which can lead to harm such as lower back pain. Poor posture may even obstruct your body's capability to take sufficient oxygen while exercising.

What to Do: Maintain Position

Maintain your posture upright, strong. Your chin should be parallel to the floor and head and hips in line with your spine. If you find you're having difficulty in maintaining good posture, try slowing your speed.

DON'T wear the wrong shoes

Zumba shoes may be cute, nevertheless they are totally different from shoes designed specifically for walking or running. Using kicks with a high arch or any support on the treadmill can stress your joints and quickly lead to harm.

What to Do: choose function over fashion

Look for athletic shoes made for running and walking. A shoe with extra cushioning in the soles really aids to protect foot bones and heels. Use these shoes just for your treadmill exercises, and they'll last long keeping your feet comfortable.

Burn Calories Fast With Strength Training

Did you know that muscle naturally decreases with age? And unless that muscle is replaced with more muscle, fat will naturally replace it! Strength training should be a part of any good weight loss program in order to maintain lean body muscle.

Your body will burn fat more efficiently with more lean muscle! Now you don't necessarily have to be Mr. muscle in order to burn fat, but training the muscles you already have is always a good idea.

5 Reasons to strength train

• Develops your bones - Training your bones while you are still young will prevent osteoporosis later on in life. Even if you are older, strength training will help prevent the risk of developing osteoporosis
• Less chance of injury - Having more muscle on your body will better protect your joints from injury, which is especially important if you do a lot of cardio!
• Increase your stamina - as your muscles grow stronger, you will tire less quickly and will be able to train for longer during your workout sessions.
• Look better - Lean muscle weighs less and takes up less space than fat, so the more you train, the better your body will begin to look!
• Get better rest - Because you are expending more energy in your workouts you will be more tired and will rest better at night!

Your options

If you are a complete newbie to strength training (like I was) then the best place to start would be with hand weights. In fact, you if you wanted to start strength training you wouldn't even have to step foot inside a gym. You can always workout from home using resistance bands or even your own body weight!

Start slowly

If you are new to strength training don't try to be the 'hulk' on your first day, start off slow and only what is comfortable for you. Remember to do at least 10 minutes of stretching or brisk walking before you start your strength training session.

When more comfortable with strength training and feel that you would like to move on to heavier weights always remember the rule of 10%. A good rule of thumb to increasing your weights is to increase them by 10% at a time. But only increase you weights once you can do 10 reps comfortably!

About 3 training session a week of 25 minutes each will be good enough for the average person to lose weight. But remember to give your muscles time to recover! Slight muscle pain is normal when you are strength training, but stop if you are ever experiencing sharp pain.

Weight Loss - When Energy In Exceeds Energy Out

You head out the door with coffee in hand, ready for your workout program at the gym. You woke up an hour and a half earlier than usual to make sure you have enough time for your routine. Today it is cardio - the best exercise for burning calories. You still have not decided if you are going to use the treadmill or rowing machine. Probably the treadmill, since it never fails to help break a good sweat.

After your 35-minute treadmill jog, you stretch and think about the calories you have burned. The machine said 317. You know even if it's true, it is still short of 500, which is the daily deficit you need to lose one solid pound of fat a week.
You arrive back at home, eat a quick breakfast and head off to work. Besides being a fruitful day, you hope it is one where you make progress towards a slimmer waistline.
Technically, if you can stick to this routine at least four days a week, you are doing great. It is one thing not to be sedentary, but it is another entirely if you can establish a routine where you are regularly doing productive exercise every week.
There are many reasons to be physically active.
One surely at the forefront in your list of priorities is fat loss and weight management. Without a doubt, exercise is a great way to burn fat while providing a host of other benefits to your body and health. That being said, there is one crucial element to keep in mind if the primary reason you are exercising is weight loss...
Energy in must NOT exceed energy out.
No matter how hard you are pushing yourself in the gym, you are not going to lose weight if you have not established a caloric deficit. The best way to tell when energy in is greater than energy out is when you are physically active and still not making progress, or even potentially gaining weight despite your efforts. It is not an uncommon situation, given it's a natural tendency to increase your caloric consumption the more you exercise. After all, you are using the body's valuable stores of energy. So it's expected you will see an increase in appetite to replenish those stores.
If you are to be successful at managing your weight

Never forget the importance of monitoring your nutritional intake alongside maintaining your exercise routine. Only when you are expending more energy in the form of calories than you are taking in, will you be able to make significant progress.

The Mind-Connection in Weight Loss

Do you struggle with weight loss and just can't seem to figure out how to lose the pounds?
Well, you are not alone.

Today marks a special day for everyone who has been struggling with losing weight because we are going to explore one of the most challenging obstacles to permanent weight loss in women: the mind-body connection.
The mind-body connection may sound like "magic and voodoo," but it actually makes a lot of sense, and even medical science now emphasizes the need to harmonize the body and mind to improve one's wellness.
There has always been an over-emphasis on the physical when it comes to losing weight. Of course, in the end, the numbers do matter and when you are trying to fit into a pair of jeans that are two sizes smaller, all you can think about is, "what happened to my waistline?"
But, what you may not know is that research suggests that our minds can sometimes be our biggest enemy when we are trying to lose weight.
Our brains can actually hinder our bodies from experiencing the weight loss we desire.
How? In today's post I will discuss the various mind-body issues that we all have experienced at one point or another that may play a role in hindering your weight loss. And I will share some simple solutions that will help you end specific mind-body misconceptions.

Problem #1: Toxic Stress
Stress can be extremely toxic if you don't know how to manage it.
Many people don't realize that stress impacts not just the mind, but also the body. If you want a more scientific term for it, call it "physiological stress."
When you are stressed, your brain sends an emergency distress signal to the rest of your body. Your "fight or flight" instincts kick in and suddenly, your body is only concerned with just surviving.
The result? You'll feel exhausted and fatigued almost all the time. This can make your weight loss journey problematic, because you won't have the extra energy you need to achieve your weight loss goals.
You can't lose weight if your stress levels are off the charts. Your mind won't allow you to use additional energy and resources on your new goals because it is in a physiological emergency state. You need to address the stress before attempting to start on your weight loss goals.
How can you stop stress before it stops you? Here are some steps to help you with stress management:
Step 1: Ask yourself, what is causing your stress? Be really honest with yourself!
Step 2: If the stressor is a problem you have at work or at home, can you find a solution for it? Sit down and try to solve the problem so it doesn't bother you anymore.
Step 3: If the stressor is something that you cannot solve, or it is simply an independent reality that causes stress sometimes (e.g. taking care of children), then learn to separate yourself momentarily from the stressor.
If you feel like exploding from stress all the time, take a five-minute walk outside or find a quiet room and do something you like. Learning to temporarily separate yourself from an unavoidable stressor can do wonders.
Problem #2: No Tension Release

Tension, like stress, can easily build up if you don't have an outlet to release it.
When there is just too much tension, it can be nearly impossible to make the lifestyle changes needed for successful weight loss.
If you don't have a way to "let off steam," your mind-body connection will work against anything that requires your time and energy. This is probably one of the main reasons why people feel fatigued at work. The tension in their minds and bodies are just too much to handle. You can solve this problem through regular tension release.
Having a "tension outlet" can greatly improve your life and help you achieve new goals.
I suggest picking activities that will allow you to release tension without harming your body. Absolutely avoid activities like guzzling alcohol or smoking tobacco.
Among the best tension busters are:
- Playing sports
- Meditation
- Yoga
- Writing/journaling
- Travel
- Cooking
- Arts
Problem #3: Not Believing In Yourself
Do our beliefs about our abilities matter when you are trying to lose weight?
Yes! You can't achieve something if you don't believe that you can do it in the first place. Remember the saying "what your mind conceives, the body can achieve?" That old saying was actually pretty accurate!
Here's the truth: experts who study body language and the subconscious mind agree that if you believe that you can do something, you're already halfway there.
If we flip the situation, not believing in your self will logically produce the opposite results. You wouldn't want that if you're eager to lose weight.
So if you really want to prepare yourself well and strengthen your mind-body connection for the purpose of losing weight, you have to completely trust yourself and believe that you can achieve weight loss.
But remember: it's not enough to just say that you believe in something.
You also have to reaffirm that belief on a daily basis and actively use it to motivate yourself to accomplish goals. That way, your mind will be properly conditioned by the right beliefs and a positive mindset.

The mind is a very powerful ally in weight loss, use it to your full advantage.
